Why making these videos is so important to me...
I grew up with a very small family, and by the time I was born both my grandpa's had already passed. My grandmas were incredible women, but both passed away when I was just a kid, so I never really got to know them on a deeper level. I've seen some really beautiful photographs of all of them from their youth, but photos are only one demential. I just think it would be so special to have a video, hearing their voice and getting a glimpse of what their personalities were like, watching how they walked and talked... It would bring them to life in a way photos just cannot compare...
The process
We start by getting on a free Creativity Call to get to know each other, and discuss ideas for the video. We discuss location, shoot date, props, and price. From there we can focus on the details of your family dynamic, and what your imagination is leaning towards wanting to capture on video. Next step is filming content of you and whoever else you'd like in the video, which usually takes about 1.5 hours. For the audio component of the video, I will put a microphone on you, and ask you to go to a quiet room so you can have a moment to relax and speak from the heart. If you already know what you want to say, and have a letter written out, that's great ! If you don't, thats fine too! I will have prompts for you to answer on a set of cards, and you can choose the ones you feel drawn to. From there I start the editing process, taking bits and pieces of what we captured, to bring the video to life. Delivery time on final video is 3 weeks.
